About Okkei Japanese

I started Okkei Japanese on Instagram in January 2024.
Soon after, I launched a YouTube channel and podcast. It’s been amazing to hear that my content is helping people learn Japanese.

I’ve always loved language learning, making videos, and recording podcasts. Personally, I’ve been using podcasts to study English since college. That’s why I believe the best way to improve listening is by hearing natural Japanese in content you actually enjoy.

Why I Started This Website

To be honest, most of Okkei Japanese’s income right now comes from YouTube AdSense. I like making video & podcast, but when you're creating content for language learners, it's hard to balance what the algorithm wants with what’s truly helpful.

To reach a wide audience, I need to make videos that perform well. But real language learning often needs something different. Slower stories, deeper conversations, more natural Japanese. That kind of content doesn’t always get enough views to keep going.

That's why I started this website.

With your support, I can create more of the content that actually helps you. Content that doesn't rely on clicks or trends. I can focus on making something deeper, more consistent, and truly useful for learners.

I’ve put a lot of time and care into building this site. With the help of an amazing coder, Lukas Eichberg, the transcript features became something truly useful. My goal is to make it easy, fun, and inspiring for people learning Japanese.
